Help Services

Deacons and Deaconesses

The term “deacon” means servant and the goal for the deacons of Harmony Baptist Church is to serve with humble, willing hearts. How do we serve? When a roof needs repair, we’re there. When the car won’t start, or the screen door is falling off, when you need someone to pray with you, or a shoulder on which to cry, or someone to celebrate with you, we’re there. Each person at Harmony is in the care of a deacon through our Deacon Family Program. Whenever a need arises, please call and we will do what we can to help you.

Our Deaconess Team ministers through home and hospital visitation, preparing communion, helping with baptisms, and assisting in decorating the church for various holidays. The ladies on this team faithfully minister to encourage and support those who are discouraged, sick or home-bound, and to help keep the ministries of the church flowing smoothly.

Prayer

Pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5:16

We are a praying family and we would love to pray for you. We have 3 ways for you to ask us to pray for you.

Our prayer chain is designed for emergencies and a group of people immediately will pass along your request and then lift your needs to Him in prayer. If this is an emergency, please call the office first (845)692-6113. If the answering machine picks up, then call Earlene at (845)361-5042 or Joan at (845) 361-3281. Please use the prayer chain only in cases of emergency.

Congregational email prayer requests can be started by either calling the office at (845)692-6113 or by email at harmonychurchny@gmail.com. Those of us online – and that number is growing all the time – will send up a prayer as soon as we receive the email message.

Web-prayer requests will be posted to this site by filling in the form under the prayer tab. As your request goes through the office first, it may take a little while for your request to be uploaded to the site. However, you may also ask for your request to be both on the website and sent through the congregational emails.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. Philippians 4:6

Elder Prayer

If you wish for extra prayer for a certain situation or illness, you are invited to meet with a few Elders after the 11:00 a.m.service, on the second Sunday of the month.
