Small Groups

Harmony Baptist Church small group Bible studies meet throughout the month around Orange County. Some meet with those who live close to one another; others meet with those who have something in common. Any and all family groups – single, married, married with children, single with children, empty-nesters, and retired are welcomed. These groups welcome children though some homes are obviously more conducive to their needs. They usually go off and play together, building a community of their own as they do so very naturally while the adults create a community of their own. Through sharing our feelings and thoughts, praying with and loving one another, crying together and laughing together around the study of the Bible, we build community for ourselves.

There are risks to being in a small group; love gets involved. People see God through the way we love. And, in John 13:35 it says, “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” In any small group, love is the key component. In love, you make three commitments: to gather together, to study the Word of God, and to pray.

James: A Time For Spiritual Maturity

The Epistle of James is the “how-to” book of the Christian life. It is one of the most practical books in the NewTestament, offering instruction and exhortation to Christians. Together, let us learn how to develop spiritual maturity and Christian character.

There will be an opportunity to pursue membership and baptism after completing the class for those who are interested. The class lasts for six sessions. Please contact the church for the next scheduled class date.

Young At Heart

Young at Heart ministers to those in our congregation ages 50 and up. Our group usually meets in the church foyer on the 1st Monday of the month. We gather for an informal time of fellowship and food, have a guest speaker and opportunities to share our lives together. We also enjoy special trips throughout the year including an annual boat trip and Christmas dinner. Offerings are collected and given to special projects.

Contact Gerald or Earlene Schoonmaker for more information at (845) 361-5042.

Ladies Bible Study

Ladies Bible Study meets on Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Cry Room, located in the main foyer of the church. We invite women from all seasons of life to join us. We spend these minutes together focused on encouraging one another through the day to day challenges of life by studying the Bible, praying together, laughing, debating, and sharing our lives. Many of the women attending are moms who are able to share with one another lessons learned and challenges we are facing.

A childcare service is provided for attendees.

Men's Roundtable

The Men’s Roundtable is a group of men who desire to grow together in our commitment to Christ and to His body.

Why “Men’s Roundtable”? We want to talk to other men about life and just enjoy the fellowship. Most of us are Christians. All of us are searching for truth and desire honest dialogue. We are all inundated with life, family and work; we need time to step outside things for a minute and talk to someone else who just might understand.

What happens at Men’s Roundtable? By design this is a discussion based group, not leader dependent. The conversations are mostly spontaneous, though there might be some directing from time to time. We often refer to the Bible in our discussions. We always seek to be honest. Our hope is that this time will be a breath of fresh air.

Who are invited?
Men ages 18+ meet at Don Nauta’s house (268 Collabar Rd. Montgomery, NY) from 7:30 – 9 p.m. every other Monday. For specific dates contact Pastor Dave at the office 845-692-6113 or use the form at the left.
